This half-day Introduction to Astrophotography Workshop is designed to give you a solid grounding in night-sky imaging and the confidence to create your own striking photographs.

We begin with an engaging classroom session where you’ll explore the essentials of planning and shooting after dark: understanding conditions, choosing the right settings, composing with intention, and preparing your camera so it becomes second nature to use in low light. You’ll have hands-on time with your kit, ensuring you’re fully ready for the night ahead.

A two-course dinner is included before we head out to Broadway Tower if the weather allows. This location has been specifically chosen to offer a wide open sky with interesting foreground of the 18th Century Tower. Broadway sits within a Bortle Class 4 area, giving us a great view of the stars with lower levels of light pollution. Under the open sky, you’ll put your new knowledge into practice with supportive, step-by-step guidance. If persistent rain or fog makes shooting impossible, the outdoor session will be replaced with additional teaching on the basics of processing night-sky images—so you still leave with useful, transferable skills.

The small-group format creates a relaxed, personal environment with space to ask questions, refine your approach, and grow at your own pace.

This workshop is ideal for anyone who already owns a DSLR or mirrorless camera and enjoys photography, even with no previous astrophotography experience. To make the most of the outdoor session, you’ll need to be comfortable walking over uneven ground with minimal light.

Designed to inspire, encourage, and open up the magic of the night sky.
